The Playboy Stars

Playboy Back Issues from the '60s and 70s have stars inside the "P". Popular rumor was that the number of stars represented either the number of times Hugh Hefner had slept with the Playmate of the Month Centerfold, or his rating of how good she was in bed. Officially, however, the stars represent the advertising region for that magazine. If you find the same issue with a different number of stars, you will notice that some of the advertisements are different. There were 13 regions, including Chicago Metropolitan, New York Metropolitan, Southern California, Northern California, Central, Eastern, Western, Southeastern, Southwestern, Canada, International, United Kingdom and Military. The last issue with the stars was September 1979
