In 1960, a four story mansion
at 1340 N State Parkway in Chicago was bought and became the Playboy
Mansion. Hefner used to spend all his time at the East Ohio building,
but in 1963 he moved into the mansion, rarely leaving to go outside! In
1967 Playboy moved to the Present Playboy Building at 919 N Michigan
Avenue. Formerly the Palmolive Building. A 37 Story building, with a
rotating spotlight on top.
Playboy's
Penthouse (TV) was first broadcast on October 24, 1959, and lasted for
two seasons. Playboy Table Talk (radio) was broadcast in Chicago on WCFL
in 1964. Playboy After Dark ran in 1969. |
The first Playboy Club (in
Chicago) opened February 29, 1960. Other clubs included : Chicago,
Miami, New Orleans, St. Louis, New York, Phoenix, Detroit, Manila,
Baltimore, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, San Francisco,
Ocho Rios Jamaica, Boston, London, Montreal, Denver, Lake Geneva
Wisconson, Great Gorge NJ, Clermont UK, Portsmouth UK, Manchester UK,
Tokyo, Dallas, Osaka Japan, Bahamas, Nagoya Japan, Sapporo Japan,
Atlantic City, Buffalo, St. Petersburg, San Diego, Lansing, Colombus OH,
Des Moines.
The very first appearance of pubic hair was in
the August 1969 issue, by Paula Kelly. However, the first Playmate to
show pubic hair was Liv Lindeland. She appeared in the January 1971
issue. She was also the Playmate of the Year |
